Hammerhead WNY Winter Challenge Series – ver 3.0

Once again, back is the incredible…

January 11th  – CrossFit Rochester

January 25th – CrossFit Buffalo

February 8th – CrossFit DeWitt

…WNY Winter Challenge Series – Sponsored by Hammerhead Fitness.  In case you didn’t know – dates have been set, plans have been made and SIGN UP IS NOW OPEN!

This will be the 3rd year running of the Hammerhead Series…  three competitive “varied functional movements done at high intensity” (VFMDAHI) events rolled into a series to determine who is the fittest man/woman in the area.  In addition to just being a lot of fun, past events have been a great showcase for Western New York’s VFMDAHI talent   …and this year’s installment is promising more of the same.  Last year’s event at CrossFit Rochester was oversold – so if you want to play, be sure to sign up ASAP!

This year, only the Open Men and Open Women classes will be run for the entire series and the only classes to have series champions.  Each individual event will feature their own event specific “support classes” for those that want to participate but aren’t quite ready for the Open division.  For the event on January 11th at CrossFit Rochester our support classes will include Intermediate Team (2 men/2 women), Beginner Men, Beginner Women and High School.  The support classes will be competing for trophies/bragging rights/fun – whereas the Open Men and Open Women classes will be playing for cash:  1st place – $150 / 2nd place – $100 / 3rd place -$50.

A note to Open class competitors:  We only have 60 slots available at the Rochester event so the series is capped at 60.  Other events may allow for more, but these “extras” will not be eligible for series awards.  To give preference to those wishing to do the entire series, individual event sign-ups for the Open divisions will not be available until Friday, December 13th.

So that we may fit in a greater variety of events for a greater number of people, we will not only be using the gym space in CrossFit Rochester, but also the indoor field down the hall in Turf Time.  In the interest of time – in addition to releasing the event schedules and heat assignments – the workouts and movement standards for the CrossFit Rochester event will be released via youtube video on Friday, January 10th.  It will be very important that any/all competitors view and understand the content of these videos as this information will not be reviewed at the event!  It will be the athlete’s responsibility to make sure they are checked-in on time and know where and when they are doing what.

To help in your planning here is a rough draft of the schedule for the day.
