WODder of the Week: Alli O’Malley

Alli O’ Malley has been a long-time member of CrossFit Rochester. She joined several years ago as a way to lose weight and have more energy to play with her two kids. “I started Crossfit a month after I turned 41. I was in the worst shape of my life and learned about CrossFit and decided to give it a try.  It was either going to work, or I was going to get a personal trainer. Needless to say it worked.”

In the beginning, Alli’s goal was simply to finish a WOD “in the mix” with the others in the class. She noticed strength gains almost immediately. She says, “I’ve learned so much about how to eat and am eternally grateful that the gym provides this information.” Now, 3 years later and over 25lbs lighter, Alli easily finishes “in the mix” during daily classes (usually 6am). Her goals these days include an unassisted pull-up and becoming more consistent with toes-to-bar. She hopes to find the courage to enter a competition next year; we know she’d crush it! Congratulations on your incredible progress and dedication, Alli!

Note: Alli is the executive director of Safe Journey, which puts on the annual Scarecrow 5k in Fairport. CrossFit Rochester brings a large group every year, so mark your calendars for October 12, 9am!

    Alli is a tough competitor. I have lost to her big time — specifically when rowing. Mentally she just won’t give in. It’s awesome!
